The Disappearance of Anthony Hoey

19 year old Anthony Hoey was known to be in Rockingham, North Carolina on February 1, 2026. He was last seen walking away from his mother’s home on Cartledge Creek Road.

Background

Anthony is the oldest of six children and grew up in Gastonia, North Carolina. After graduating from Ashbrook High School, he moved into his mother’s house on Cartledge Creek Road in Rockingham. 

Disappearance

On February 1, 2026, Anthony Hoey was last seen walking away from his mother’s house in Rockingham during a winter storm. He never returned home, and hasn’t been seen since.

His family is deeply concerned for his well being. Anthony’s father believes if he left on his own he would head to Gastonia or Charlotte, though loved ones say it’s uncharacteristic of him to be without contact for this long.

Anthony does not drive and often uses Uber or Lyft, but those services were not operating on the night he disappeared due to severe weather.

Investigation

Search dogs tracked Anthony’s scent from the front door of his mother’s house to the end of the street, but stopped there.

Searches have been focused on the neighborhood near Linwood and Garrison Boulevard.

Family members later discovered Anthony’s bookbag with clothes inside in a wooded area near his mother’s home, but his cell phone is missing.

Appearance

Anthony is about 6’2 tall and weighs 125-140 pounds.

Clothing & Accessories:
Anthony was last seen wearing grey pants and black work boots, but his family is unsure what shirt he was wearing.
